A monkey at the monolith, that's what we're talking about here.

A Conservative Minister intellectually over his head:

OTTAWA -- Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan says he fears for the government's ability to fight terrorism in light of "an increasingly complex legal environment" in which judges are no longer deferring to the government in its efforts to deport foreign suspects.

When it comes to Peter Van Barney Rubble, I'm guessing "increasingly complex" also applies to him noticing that a Thermos keeps hot things hot and cold things cold and how the heck does it know?

We have a public safety minister who believes the independent judiciary defers to the government?

We are so screwed. I hope when my turn comes, I'm exiled some place warm.

Just kidding. That'll never happen to me. I'm white.

None of the sheeple that populate the Blogging Tories will understand the irony there.

Complex legal environment, that's shorter for basic human rights, yes?

And they say that fascism is dead in this country...

So its pretty clear he's a fascist.

Can anyone really deny this now? He is asking..nay demanding and defending to the point of ridiculing the judiciary - that the government have the right to indefinitely detain people without charge, trial or due process of law.

That's some love of democracy there.

I wonder what Stephen Taylor of the Manning Institute for Pretending to like Democracy thinks?

It's Monday; the Institute's workers are busy tending their vast cricket farms.

The Manning thing is not an "institute for democracy." It's just a training centre to produce conservative political entrepreneurs; people who want careers just like Stephen Taylor's (which, from the looks of it, seems pretty sweet). I sure wouldn't mind having a career in which my intellect isn't burdened by the constraints of intellectual honesty and where the standard of excellence is established by other Conservatives.

I swear to god that some days when I read the news I think that the writers from The Onion have bred like rabbits and now populate the whole MSM.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Be careful lest you let any of them high-falutin' Frenchie words slip off your tongue when you don't think they're listening.
