Jim Flaherty: You lying, fucking douchebag.

Stolen shamelessly from Red Tory:

In all fairness, the quotes listed in that clip all date from late 2008. It would, of course, be far more amusing to find actual economists who predicted the current meltdown from, say, at least a couple years back. You know ... kind of like this (emphasis leg-humpingly added):

On Sept. 7, 2006, Nouriel Roubini, an economics professor at New York University, stood before an audience of economists at the International Monetary Fund and announced that a crisis was brewing. In the coming months and years, he warned, the United States was likely to face a once-in-a-lifetime housing bust, an oil shock, sharply declining consumer confidence and, ultimately, a deep recession. He laid out a bleak sequence of events: homeowners defaulting on mortgages, trillions of dollars of mortgage-backed securities unraveling worldwide and the global financial system shuddering to a halt. These developments, he went on, could cripple or destroy hedge funds, investment banks and other major financial institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Yeah, kind of like that.

Jim Flaherty: Worthless, lying, fucking cocksucker of a total douchebag.

SNAP! Yeah, kind of like that, too.

AFTERSNARK
: One is curious whether anyone is going to call Flaherty on his lying, fucking douchebaginess. Like, say, during Question Period:

"Mr. Speaker, during his appearance before the Senate, the lying, fucking douchebag of a Finance Minister claimed that not a single economist predicted the current financial debacle. In fact, numerous economists predicted exactly that. For example, I have here an article from the New York Times discussing economist Nouriel Roubini back in 2006 ... read from article here ...

"Would the lying, fucking douchebag of a Finance Minister like to correct the record? Or would he prefer to remain the lying, fucking douchebag that he is?"

Hello? Liberals?

The Liberals have been such a disappointment. They should been calling this asshole out every bloody day, and, as Heil Harper pro-rogued Parliament, sat outside the House day and night, on hunger strikes, loudly protesting, and committing acts of civil disobedience; hopefully they would have drawn the ire of our petty PM and been tear-gassed and arrested.

But, no. Our Liberals are part of the 'governing' elite, and dutifully sat on their hands, some of them, I'm sure, silently pleased that Harper has survived taking the heat for closing Parliament. After all, now they know that they will be able to get away with it in the future should they need to.

And... Coalition: Out! Tar sands: In!

I swear, next election, the Conservative ads will simply focus on Iggy being the second choice of Canadians because 'though he tries, he simply isn't Harper enough.'
