There is plenty of time for this to fester and rupture into something seriously ugly. The Republican party is in trouble and deeply polarized, and the "base" is left exposed to the harsh light of day. The brown shirts of the GOP.
There's a reason I believe that the U.S. is going to go the way of Yugoslavia.
And we've been seeing examples of it all over the place over the last couple of days.

Same thought was wandering through my head. The big themes that cause states to fragment are all present: economic upheaval, division over politics and war, plenty of propagandising, a lot of 'othering', a lot of stupid... There is a dream dying south of the border, and it ain't gonna be pretty.
That makes me think of a bit of dialog from Watchmen.
