In political circles, I believe this is called a "gaffe." In John McCain's case, it might also be called "raving, advanced senility."
P.S.: No dependence on oil from the Middle East? Hmmmmm ... I wonder how McCain plans to make up for the inevitable shortfall? Give it time, it'll come to you.
