Don't go away mad, Sandy.

It would appear the endless incivility of the blogosphere has claimed another victim, kids. Sandy Crock is taking a sabbatical from blogging.

I am going to take some time off. Perhaps it is time to move on to a new challenge. I am not saying I am closing this blog down permanently. But, I will certainly think about it, particularly given some of the volatile comments I have been receiving regarding the Toronto school board’s recently approved black-focused school. In fact, I have had to add several IP’s to my spam filter.

Blogging is a lot of work. And, while we can simply ignore most anonymous trolls, when it gets to the point where you have to edit or remove the majority of the comments you receive on a given post, it simply isn’t fun anymore. As a result, for the time being, I will be closing the comments on all posts.

Translation: You’re all just a bunch of big meanies who are mean. And uncivil. And completely unappreciative of my point of view. Which, if you had any brains, would be your point of view. So I’m taking my ball and going home, suckerzzzzz.

How will we ever stay on top of the Harper government's stellar accomplishments now?

So I was all like "You don't even know what you're talking about" and Sandy was all like "That's because you're biased" and I was all "Bias this!" and she was all "What...ever!"

Then, with a flip of her hair, she flounced away.

Quite frankly, given that Sandy perpetually referred to herself as "non-partisan" and yet devoted a great deal of time to (dishonestly) hyping the wonderfulness of Dear Leader, she shouldn't be surprised at the abuse that came her way.

We're used to the Blogging Tories being mindless, obedient, Stepfordian hacks, and we just make fun of that sort of thing. But when you publicly describe yourself as fair and non-partisan and still behave that way, well, that calls for a heaping helping of extra abuse. And if you can't take it, well, tough shit.

Don't blame the anonymous trolls, Sandy, sweetie. Blame the fact that you posted crap, then didn't have the spine to defend it. Thanks for stopping by.

This seems kind of amusing given that she claims to have been hounded away from blogging by an assault of some kind by “anonymous trolls.” But, but… didn’t her Wordpress site kind prevent that sort of malicious posting? And given that she didn’t (presumably) publish any of the “anonymous” posts… well, this all sounds highly suspect, to say the least, if not downright fictitious. Perhaps no coincidence that she’s departing the scene to go write novels…

If I had to venture a guess, it would be that this huffy sort of exit-stage-right allows her to indulge some self-satisfying sense of vicitimization that so many “conservatives” dearly cherish. Rather than having the integrity to admit that she’s prone to melting at even the slightest bit of heat or dissention from the party line and therefore needed to anxiously flee the kitchen in panic, she’s cooked up this delightfully pleasing fabrication instead.

I did not know this. My failure is understandable give this fresh insight.

Sandy really is looking to play the whiny, persecuted martyr based on this:

"And, while we can simply ignore most anonymous trolls, when it gets to the point where you have to edit or remove the majority of the comments you receive on a given post, it simply isn’t fun anymore."

Here at CC HQ, we have a simple solution for anonymous trolls -- we just don't allow anonymous commenters. And, no, that's not censorship since it's trivial for someone to register for a Blogger ID to join the party, and it also prevents the kind of confusion you get when several people are simultaneously commenting as "Anonymous."

So, really, Sandy, dear, that excuse is beyond feeble. Why not just suck it up and admit that you couldn't handle posting total shit and being called on it? At least that would be honest. Go on, give it a try. For once.
