Yeah, THAT'LL promote some civil dialogue, Paul.

Apparently, we progressives are never happy:

But, don't expect any "progressive" Canadian to listen to, least of all give voice to, soldiers any time soon. Why? Because "progressives" and soldiers are generally not cut from the same cloth ... soldiers are doers, fixers, and they understand sacrifice ... "progressives" are whiners, dependent, and generally anti-military. "Progressives" say they support the troops, but they don't. How can you tell? Because they never consider ... even for a moment, what the troops have to say.

Yup, that's us progressives -- constant whiners from sun up to sun down.

In unrelated news, the CTV are a bunch of big meanies. It's just not fair. It's not, it's not, it's not!

Yeah, Dave at the Galloping Beaver or The Amazing Wonderdog (RIP), those guys are a bunch of whiners. What do they know of "soldiers" eh? Certainly, a fine brave keyboard warrior like Paul is "cut from the same cloth" as the soldiers.

Fucking wanker...

Oh, but don't goddamned forget, there are "progressive" bloggers and discussion board members who ARE military.

But they don't count.

Oh, and those US soldiers who criticized Rumsfeld, ... they were all a bunch of easily-manipulated children who got their questions from cynical liberal journalists.

Oh, and right-wing Democratic hawk, Vietnam vet, Murtha? As soon as he questions the war, he's a coward.

And that mulitple-amputee Vietnam Vet, Max Cleland? The bushlovers insulted him and his sacrifice.

These right-wingers are just morons who can't even conceive of their own hypocrisy even after it's been spelled out for them.

I love the 'support the troops' meme.

* Progressives didn't send the troops to Iraq. Republican lies did.

* Progressives didn't forget to give the troops body armor. Republicans did. Then they laughed about it when Rumsfeld quipped "You go to war with the army you have."

* Progressives didn't fail to support the troops with adequate medical and emotional treatment when they return. Republicans did.

* Progressives aren't responsible for Walter Reed. The Republicans who wanted to privatize it are.

* Progressives aren't responsible for calling back a strike on Al Qaeda in Pakistan. Republicans are.

So, if these right wing assholes want to talk about 'supporting the troops', they can blow it out their ass. Not only do they not support the troops, there's more than enough blood for all of their hands. Enough, in fact, based on that John Hopkin's report last year, you can fill an olympic sized swimming pool to the point where it overflows and half way fills up a second one.

~655,000 dead @ 5.6 liters each = 3,668,000 liters of blood.

Average Olympic Pool = 2,500,000 liters.

I actually experimented with doin' & fixin' during the Vietnam era. I had the temerity to try to fix the US Army. This did not go over well. So I went back to whinin', sunrise to sundown.

But despite my constant whinin', the experience left me with a feeling of solidarity with the troops that you neo-conmen friends do not seem to share.

I'm working on a book about Canadian peacekeepers in the modern age, and let me tell you, there is a marked difference between the many soldiers I've interviewed and the kind of people who care about who's cut from what cloth.

The funny thing is, when you start talking to soldiers -- whether they were in Cyprus, or Egypt, or Afghanistan, or Cambodia, the actual values that come out are the burning need to try to help the less fortunate, whether it's providing them with free shelter, food, or medical care. Soldiers actually seem to see through the religion and culture and politics and all the garbage that right-wingers like to use to divide people. They see through it and concentrate on helping people. Tell me: which side of the political spectrum does that sound like?

Oh, and I'm a progressive and a former soldier. Wonder if Paul would be able to get his tiny head around that one.

Paul's welcome to try to walk 25 yards in this "progressive's" old combat boots.

I'll make it easy for him - he doesn't have to carry any weight beyond his own.

Dave, were you an army cook?
