In a Wall Street Journal op-ed last month, neoconservative scholar Fouad Ajami compared Scooter Libby to “fallen soldiers” in Iraq. “[Libby] can’t be left behind as a casualty of a war our country had once proudly claimed as its own,” he wrote.

On the other hand, if you take one of those soldiers, convict him of perjury and obstruction of justice, then commute his posting to Iraq, you might have something there.

I'll choose to view Ajami's comparison as hilarious rather than repulsive. I feel better that way. But it could be viewed as both, I suppose. Sheesh, what an a-hole.
