And another right-wing talking point bites the big one.

Man, if you're a neo-con who's been getting all revved up over this Haditha "How dare they jump the gun and prejudge and ... blah blah blah" thing, well, this has to come as a bit of a knee to the groin (emphasis added):

Marine commanders in Iraq knew within two days of the killings in Haditha in November that gunfire, not a roadside bomb, had killed Iraqi civilians but they saw no reason to investigate further, The New York Times reported on Saturday...

... a senior Marine general familiar with the investigation told the newspaper ``It's impossible to believe they didn't know,'' referring to mid-level and senior officers. ``You'd have to know this thing stunk,'' the general, who was granted anonymity along with others who described the investigation, was quoted as saying.

Dear residents of Wankerville: It must seriously suck to be you these days.

The 101st keyboarders are seriously losing their minds -- it is impossible to spin this in a way that make the American marines look upright, noble, justified, etc, which doesn't mean they won't try. Maybe those three-year-olds dissed the marines by sticking out their tongues at them ....
